The plasma television offers many advantages over other television technologies, and this accounts for why they are the fastest selling TV technology on the market. The plasma television is able to display a higher resolution compared to conventional TV sets, and is capable of displaying HDTV signals. Many plasma televisions are now capable of producing 1080i pictures. Most plasma televisions include a built in line doubler; a feature that basically doubles the resolution of conventional TV signals, greatly improving their image quality. About Plasma Television Technology: Plasma television technology is different from the
technology used in other display systems in that red, green and blue
lights are created in every pixel, reducing the need for space. Charged
electrodes between glass panels cause tiny pockets of inert gas to change
a state of plasma. This process causes UV light to be produced, which in
turn reacts with the red, green, and blue phosphors in each pixel to
produce visible light. The parts used in plasma televisions do not require a lot
of space which make them very adaptable. This allows the consumer to hang
them on a wall. In addition to the advantage of slimness, a plasma
television is flat rather than slightly curved as a CRT display, (regular
television) and therefore free of distortion on the edges of the screen.
Unlike many displays, a plasma television offers a very wide viewing
angle. Plasma televisions come in conventional PC display sizes and also
in sizes up to 63 inches for home theater and high definition television.
